Digital audio interface for mac4/9/2023 My question is specifically about how much difference an audio interface will make whilst working ITB on a MBP. I've bought a MBP after using a PC for several years where I know for a fact that almost any audio interface no matter how bad will have a significant effect on CPU use when using a PC. My bad, I should have qualified the question a bit better. The Motu has pretty decent converters and even some good onboard FX (it's all 24/192) - it's good enough for my ears, and certainly my monitors.Ok thanks for that. I used the Firewire connector (USB tends to use a little more CPU)Ī decent audio interface should cut down on CPU use if you're doing live monitoring, because the A/D conversion is offloaded elsewhere. Latency is about 13ms, that's with a 2010 MBP Dual Core i7 2.66ghz, so not exactly cutting edge. CPU usage between using the Motu's audio out, Vs the 'internal audio' is about the same - I use software monitoring in Logic Pro X, so the CPU is monitoring all channels in real time. I just very recently got the Motu Ultralite Hybrid, mainly because I now have 5 hardware synths I want to connect together.
